When I first joined Design Prodigy, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. I assumed marketing would revolve around social media platforms like Instagram and SEO tactics. Instead, I found myself navigating the world of B2B marketing, which turned out to be more structured, data-driven, and strategic than I had imagined. The first few weeks were a blur of juggling tasks for different clients, from writing cold outreach emails and designing LinkedIn ads to helping plan events and analyzing campaign results. It was overwhelming at first, but it pushed me to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and workflows.
What made the experience smoother was the support from the team. Cheryl, my supervisor, guided me patiently through the operational details of running campaigns and managing clients. I also had the chance to work closely with Marc, the CEO, who introduced me to the concept of mental models and how they shape our thinking. I began applying ideas like “zoom in, zoom out” in my daily work, and slowly, I noticed a shift in how I approached problems. Our weekly check-ins felt less like task updates and more like opportunities to grow and reflect on how I was thinking, not just what I was doing.
One of the biggest shifts for me came when I started attending networking events. As someone who doesn’t usually go out of their way to meet new people, I was surprised by how much I learned from simply having conversations. I realized I had been operating with a narrow perspective, and those interactions helped me understand that most people are open and willing to share if you’re genuinely interested. This opened up a new way of thinking for me, not just in terms of career, but in how I relate to others and navigate unfamiliar spaces.
Looking back, this internship taught me far more than I anticipated. Beyond marketing skills, I gained confidence, learned to think more critically, and saw the importance of continuous reflection. I’m thankful to Marc, Cheryl, and the team for giving me the space to try, to learn, and to grow. I leave with a better understanding of where I can contribute and how I want to continue developing myself in the future.
